Cultural responsibility

Passing on skills to future generations

We take responsibility for teaching craftsmanship and passing it on to future generations.

Crafts are part of our intangible cultural heritage and our actions ensure that the living heritage of crafts is preserved. Crafts change with the times, even though their roots are in history. Passing on skills is about ensuring that new generations learn traditional ways of making and using tools and materials. Traditional skills provide a good basis for meeting future challenges and their application can be part of the solution to complex problems.

There is not just one craft culture, but craft cultures customs, traditions, teaching and know-how.

Respect for cultural diversity

We value cultural diversity and originality.

Crafts are universal and cultural heritage has been formed through the interaction of cultures over time. We at Taito respect the distinctiveness of cultures and support the interaction of cultural identities within communities. We recognise the importance of local cultures for community cohesion and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Intercultural dialogue

We strengthen intercultural dialogue.

A rich craft culture requires respect for tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the ability and willingness to innovate in a changing world. We create spaces for encounters between craft cultures and increase understanding of different cultures.
